Hi everyone. I just wanted to write a short post to give you all some advance notice of an upcoming park event.
As I am sure you will all already be aware, 2018 heralds the huundred-year anniversary of the end of the Great War. The history of Roberts Park itself is closely intertwined with that of the war. This is because during the war the park itself was used as a major marshalling area and parade ground for troops heading off to fight in France.
To mark this centenary FoRP and the Parks Department will be arranging a series of World War One themed events to coincide with this year’s World Heritage Day. A major new permanent addition to the park will also be unveiled during the celebrations!
Full details follow on the poster below.
Hello everyone, I have some sad news to report unfortunately.
On the the 30th October the Roberts Park Lodge was vandalised and two windows were smashed. If anyone saw anything, or has any information about this incident can they please pass this information on to the police?
The Friends of Roberts Park
Just a quick reminder that we have one of our regular FoRP group meetings arranged for the 10th October (next Tuesday). This will begin at 7pm in the Roberts Park Lodge. For those who may not have been before, the Park Lodge is the building adjacent to the rear entrance of the park near the adventure playground.
The main purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the organisation of next year’s bandstand and the proposed Christmas carol concert.
Hope to see you all then.
