Roberts Park Litter Pick, Sunday 17th December

Hi Everyone, the newly formed group Litter Free Baildon have organised a litter pick at Roberts Park this Sunday 17th December.

The group is meeting at the Half Moon Cafe at 9am, and the pick will be taking place for an hour or so after this initial meet. They’ll be at the Half Moon Cafe at 9:00 AM, the people with the high-viz vests and the litter picking sticks! People should bring their own gloves.

The group has enthusiastic volunteers, but is still quite small and is loooking for civic groups around the area to meet us and work with them if possible – please help spread the word!

Christmas Bandstand, 2nd December 2-4pm

Hi Everyone! I’d just like to tell you all that the Friends of Roberts Park have decided to have our annual Christmas Bandstand on the 2nd of December 2-4pm this year.

I have organised the band myself this year and I am hoping to make this the biggest Christmas bandstand ever for Roberts Park. This year we have decided to go for a Christmas country rock theme so we have gone all out and booked a band called “Dori and The Outlaws” who have agreed to do a Christmas-themed playlist!

Hopefully, depending on the weather, we will also for the first time ever have a snow machine and even refreshments – including mince pies and alcohol-free mulled wine. As with all our bandstand events it is free to attend with no tickets required (although all donations are gratefully received).

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see everyone on Saturday 2nd December 2-4pm!

Best Regards
Paul Armstead

World War One World Heritage Day – 21st April 2018

Hi everyone. I just wanted to write a short post to give you all some advance notice of an upcoming park event.

As I am sure you will all already be aware, 2018 heralds the huundred-year anniversary of the end of the Great War. The history of Roberts Park itself is closely intertwined with that of the war. This is because during the war the park itself was used as a major marshalling area and parade ground for troops heading off to fight in France.

To mark this centenary FoRP and the Parks Department will be arranging a series of World War One themed events to coincide with this year’s World Heritage Day. A major new permanent addition to the park will also be unveiled during the celebrations!

Full details follow on the poster below.

On the the 30th October the Roberts Park Lodge was vandalised and two windows were smashed. If anyone saw anything, or has any information about this incident can they please pass this information on to the police?
