The Telegraph and Argus recently covered the ongoing efforts by Bradford Council and the Friends of Roberts Park to restore original period features to Roberts Park.
For many years two naval cannons were included in the park and stood by the bandstand as a central feature. Unfortunately these original cannons were sadly melted down for scrap during the Second World War. The good news is that plans are now underway to replace these using period cannons taken from Bradford Industrial Museum. These are of the similar type to those that stood originally in the park, and were originally manufactured at a iron works in Low Moor and thus have a strong connection to the Bradford area.
For interested readers the linked article describes the ongoing restoration process in some detail.
