I have been asked to promote the Leeds-Liverpool canal bicentennial celebration event which will be occuring adjacent to the park this Sunday. The majority of the planned events will be occuring at the Victoria Road moorings, on the towpath adjacent to the road bridge.
Planned Event Itinary:
– Hall Royd Brass Band from 10:15 am onwards.
– At approximately 11am, the floating museum Kennet will arrive at the Victoria Road moorings.
– The barge will be greeted by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, who will lead the celebrations. A celebratory peal of bells will be rung from the neighbouring URC church. Celebratory rosettes will also be available.
– There will be cheering and peals of bells as we encourage the Kennet onwards to Hirst Wood Locks and beyond, and ultimately Liverpool!
