Sunday’s bandstand concert was excellent, the weather held out and we had four excellent local acts. This including the debut of a promising up and coming female vocal talent – possibly Shipley’s answer to Amy Winehouse? To cap off an eventful day we were filmed by the Heritage Lottery Fund, David B was interviewed, and the video footage will likely be showcased in Parliament!
Anyway, we are due another Friends group meeting, and to this end Lesley has booked Baildon Link, 35 Cliffe Avenue, Baildon, BD17 6NX on the 7th September at 7pm. Everybody welcome.
Although we are now rapidly approaching the end of the bandstand concert season, as usual there is still plenty to discuss. There are several major events on the horizon that we need to plan for. We have floated the idea of turning the last bandstand concert of the season in September into a major fundraising event in order to raise funds towards a defibrillator for the park itself.
Additionally, Les has also been busy spearheading our efforts to organise a comprehensive survey of the park flora and fauna. This is an exciting new development, and it seems likely that this will lead to further conservation and habitat development volunteering opportunities for the Friends within the park itself.
We have also recently had several enquiries from individuals looking to get involved with the Friends too, which is obviously excellent news!
I’ll be in touch very soon with a meeting agenda. Before then, if anyone has any issues they wish to discuss at the meeting please get in touch with either myself, Lesley or David.
