Hello everyone, word has come through regarding another River Aire cleanup event planned by Matt Holloway and his gang at AireDRI:
It’s been quite some time since my last update, many apologies for this. I have been undertaking some voluntary work in Cyprus to help tackle the illegal bird trapping issue here and between this, work and trouble getting on to the internet it’s been a struggle keeping the updates coming.
More on all that in the future but for the time being while I am out of the UK I am helping to promote a couple of events organised by Bradford Council, the Thackley & Idle Environmental Group, the River Aire Clean Up Group and several local councillors.
Attached you will find two PDF posters, the first for a training event aimed at safe working practices while removing debris from trees which can hopefully be put into practice elsewhere along the Aire, and the second for a clean up and debris removal event.
Both will be held at Buck Mill Bridge with the training event taking place on Wednesday the 27th April 18:00 – 20:00, and the clean up event taking place on the Sunday the 8th May 10:00 – 14:00.
This will be physically demanding work and it is vital to ensure that you have strong boots and gloves if you wish to attend.
Please see the posters and links below for further details, and if there are any queries you can reply to the addresses listed below:
Unfortunately I will not be back in the UK in time for either event, but I am with you in spirit and hope to get back on the case when I return.
Again a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved with and supported the clean up and debris removal work up and down the river Aire – what a difference it has made!
Best wishes and good luck,
